Becky Brett Appointed Interim Executive Director

Effective January 1, 2021. the Princeton Festival welcomes Becky Brett, an award-winning leader of festivals in the performing arts and humanities, as its Interim Executive Director.

Becky will oversee the Festival’s 2021 season, help strengthen its professional staff, and take a role in fundraising, among other duties.

“We feel very fortunate to have found an Interim ED of Becky’s talent and experience to move us through a phase of leadership transition,” said Benedikt von Schröder, Chair of the Board of Trustees. “She brings the ideal combination of creative thinking, management knowhow, and interpersonal skills to the position.”

Becky spent her early career in Chicago with Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Chicago Humanities Festival, and the Chicago Improv Festival (among other organizations). She also co-founded and produced Atlanta’s Spontaneous Combustion Festival.

For the past eight years she has served as the first executive director in the 70-year history of the Virginia Highlands Festival, a large regional arts and culture festival. She helped them transition from an all-volunteer staff to professional staff and leadership while increasing fundraising capacity and coaching remote teams to success. In this role Becky built strategic partnerships, created innovative new programming, and successfully led the Highlands Festival through the Covid-19 pandemic.
