Sara McDermott, filmmaker, screenwriter and founder of the Princeton Independent Film Festival, joins the 3 pm panel discussion on “Opera and the Movies.”

Michael Wood, critic and Professor of English at Princeton University, will participate in the 3 pm panel discussion on “Opera and the Movies.”

Danielle Talamantes and Cameron Jackson, two of the stars of the Festival’s production of Fidelio, will perform as part of the Quartet2 program on June 4 at Princeton’s Garden Theatre.

Danielle Talamantes and Cameron Jackson, two of the stars of the Festival’s production of Fidelio, will perform as part of the Quartet2 program on June 4 at Princeton’s Garden Theatre.

The 2012 film Quartet, starring Maggie Smith and Tom Courtenay among other well-known actors, will be shown on Sunday, June 4 as part of this year’s Princeton Festival. The afternoon program also includes an expert panel and arias performed by talented Festival artists.

Winners in the Princeton festival’s Young Pianists Competition

On Sunday, June 11, six young pianists were declared winners in The Princeton Festival’s annual Competition for Young Pianists. The annual event was held at the Clark Music Center on the campus of The Lawrenceville School. The Competition began with over 100 participants, competing in six categories, each playing a selection from a list of assigned pieces. After the preliminary rounds on June 3 and 4, adjudicators Elena Lisitsian and Eun H. Yun sent winners of the preliminaries on to the final round of the competition on June 11.

The Princeton Festival Pops Orchestra presents “Disney In Concert: Around The World”

Come one, come all. On Friday, June 9 The Princeton Festival will present a multi-media pops concert that will appeal to movie-goers of all ages: favorite songs from great Disney films over the years.  “Disney in Concert: Around the World” combines live music by the Festival Pops Orchestra with scenes from the films shown on the big screen.  In the first half, there will be music from The Little Mermaid, Pocahontas, Mary Poppins, and Beauty and the Beast. After intermission, the audience will enjoy selections from Frozen, Aladdin, Mulan, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Lion King.  Much of the magic of Disney films is in their music and here is a chance to experience it live while watching the original film scenes.

Steinway SpirioPrinceton Festival Gala-Goers Get to Hear All the Nuances of a Major Artist’s Live Performance on a Self-Playing Piano

This year’s Princeton Festival Gala will go beyond its usual helping of fun, good food, dancing, and auctions to include a demonstration of the new Steinway Spirio piano, a breakthrough in technology that accurately recreates live performances in the listener’s own living room.

The Gala takes place on Wednesday, April 22 at 6 pm at Greenacres Country Club in Lawrenceville. Cocktails-only and full dinner reservations can be made at http://princetonfestival.org/event/2017-gala/ until April 21. Dancing, live and silent auctions, and other attractions are part of the fun. For its 13th season The Princeton Festival (www.princetonfestival.org) is offering 22 performances of 11 different programs between June 3 and June 25, 2017 in venues throughout the Princeton area. The Festival has scheduled its first-ever Baroque chamber music recital in Princeton Abbey, a new venue, and created its first Pops concert for Richardson Auditorium at Princeton University, another new venue.
